House Resolution 1227

House Resolution 1227

Or, Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2017. Either title is good. The name doesn’t really matter I suppose. What is important is the content, as always! What this act intends to do is remove cannabis from the list of controlled substances, on a federal level. It would then be classed alongside alcohol and tobacco.

The bill may not make it through, as a similarly named bill from 2015 is still in limbo. But it shows that global views towards the plant matter are changing more rapidly as time goes by. I believe it is just a matter of years for countries in Europe, other than Amtsterdam, Spain and Portugal to follow suit.

The revenues collected in Colorado via tax applied to cannabis sales is phenomenal. And its great to read about how this money is being used to lift that state.
